Summer Camps 2019

Paper Mache: Larger Than Life Animals

June 26 – 28 | 9:30am – 12:30pm

AGES 7+ | $90 | Snack Provided

If you could be an animal what would you be? During this fun, engaging, messy camp students pick their favorite animal then work in a larger-than-life format to create it from papier mache.

Artist Janie Stamm leads children through the entire creation process from designing their creature, to constructing its skeleton, to making and covering it with paper mache, then adding the final creative touches.

Kids can personalize their creature, bringing their own narrative to life and connecting with an abstract animal representation of the self.

Artist Janie Stamm (no relation to our own Kurt Stamm) currently lives in St. Louis, MO where she is attending grad school at Washington University.  She graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2011 with a BFA in Printmaking and BFA in Animation. Her work has been shown in Atlanta and Savannah, GA, Chicago, IL, New York, NY, Los Angeles, CA, St. Louis, MO, New Orleans, LA, Philadelphia, PA and beyond.
