Summer Camps 2019

Folk-Tastic with Claire Wellin

July 22 | 9:30am – 12:00pm

AGES 6-12 | $45

Music is a language all its own. Through multimedia exploration, campers will dive into a mix of folk and jazz, with brush and clay in hand!

Campers will have an extraordinary experience led by multi-instrumentalist Claire Wellin.  She began playing the violin before the age of five and has been married to performing ever since! Campers have the opportunity to learn about the origin of Claire’s inspiration, her journey as an artist, and try their hand at playing an assortment of instruments. They’ll also respond to live performances through a variety of artistic mediums including drawing, painting, and sculpting with clay.

Claire will have campers moving, swaying, painting, jiggling, jiving, giggling, grooving, building and more!

Claire Wellin is a singing-dancing-violin-guitar-ukulele playing, yogi and talented actress. Last summer you may have seen her on stage at the SCA as Reza in our production of “Once.” Claire is originally from North Dakota and is now based in Queens, NY. She leads the ghost folk band Youth in a Roman Field, which recently released their second album “Storm Conductor” produced by Grammy-winning producer Stewart Lerman.

Claire will be performing at the SCA’s Summer in the Studio Series July 22 at 8pm.
