Farm to Kitchen

During this multi-venue farming and food experience campers have learning and hands-on opportunities at the farm and in the kitchen!

Campers start with a farm field trip to Evergreen Lane Farm & Creamery in Fennville for a behind-the-scenes tour of the farm and creamery. Guided by Cathy Halinski, they’ll learn about the care and feeding of goats then observe and assist in the process of making of goat cheese.

With their new skills and knowledge they’ll head to The Farmhouse Deli in Douglas to experiment with and create delicious goat cheese recipes. With the help of Chef Christine Ferris campers will discover how the unique flavors of goat cheese can be added to both savory and sweet dishes to create complex, yummy flavors.

Evergreen Lane Farm & Creamery is in its 10th season of crafting delicious cheese. Their story began with a single runaway goat bursting into their lives – and living room – and has blossomed into a thriving cheese making business. Visitors to the farm can play with the kids or talk to Falyn, their resident retiree dairy goat.

The Farmhouse Deli is a full service deli dedicated to local delectables including Michigan cheeses, cured, roasted and smoked meats (some done in house) and a wide variety of soups and salads featuring fruits, vegetables and grains prepared in a vibrantly healthy manner.
