The Family Tree of the String Quartet
August 1st, 2019
FREE with RSVP | Thursday, August 1, 10:00AM – 11:30AM
In Partnership with Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck
Enjoy an intimate morning Young Listeners Concert in the SCA’s Lobby. The Vega Quartet, based in Atlanta, GA, will be in Saugatuck August 1 & 2 playing in the Chamber Music Festival. The quartet performs nationally and internationally. The New York Times raves that “[the Quartet’s] playing has a kind of clean intoxication to it, pulling the listener along…the musicians took real risks in their music making.”
Join us on the morning of Thursday, August 1 for an exclusive educational opportunity to make art, meet the string quartet, and listen in an up close and personal setting. We’ll begin by exploring the relationship between what we hear and the marks we make as we listen to a variety of sounds while simultaneously doodling (á la Wassily Kandinsky). Then, children and adults will be invited to experience the music for themselves and ask questions after the concert. Light refreshments provided.
