About Art à Loan

Award-Winning Student Art Lease Program “Art à Loan”
Opening Reception Thursday, September 12
On display September 12 – October 11

The award-winning Art à Loan program returns to the Saugatuck Center for the Arts (400 Culver Street), featuring work from Saugatuck Public School students. Art à Loan, now in its 24th year, will open on Thursday, September 12 with a reception from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, gallery doors will open at 6:45 with leasing starting promptly at 7pm.

A jury of art professionals has selected pieces included in Art à Loan, Saugatuck Public Schools’ student art lease program. The collection of selected work is comprised of pieces created by student artists ranging from grades kindergarten through 12, creating a variety of artwork available. Each piece is professionally matted, framed, and labeled with tags identifying the program, the artist, and his or her year in school.

The pieces can be leased for $150 per year, for public display in local offices, shops, restaurants, lobbies and more where they will remain on display for one year starting October 14, 2019. The program is self-supporting; proceeds from this year will cover next year’s costs.

“We encourage guests to arrive early to be part of the excitement when the gallery doors open at 6:45 pm,” states Danielle Hanna, Saugatuck High School’s Art Teacher. Melissa Pawlak, Douglas Elementary’s and Saugatuck Middle School’s art teacher shares, “The kids have worked really hard and their efforts have paid off. We’re excited to share our student’s art with our community”.

Following the opening event, Art à Loan will be on display in the SCA’s gallery from 9 am to 5 pm weekdays and during performances through October 11th, 2019. Admission is free of charge.

Thank you to Sarah Harris with The Nines Gallery and Framing Studio in Holland for making the framing of this year’s show a reality.

Those interested in leasing artwork but unable to attend the opening event can contact Danielle Hanna at Saugatuck High School, 269.857.2133.
