These works are the result of a partnership between Interlochen Center for the Arts and the Cowell Family Cancer Center. In the Aesthetics of Health course, the Visual Arts Department collaborates with the Cowell Family Cancer Center at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan to explore the intersection of arts education and healthcare in a year-long course focusing on creating artwork within, for, and in response to a clinical setting. Working alongside patients, caregivers and clinical staff, students in the Aesthetics of Health course use their art to become empathic and engaged citizens. The works on display are reflective of rigorous self inquiry and personal art practice in response to this.
