Observational studies by Hope College students inspired by the work of an incarcerated poet Professor Tori Pelz’s drawing students visually respond to the writing of Gregory, an incarcerated poet.

In a reciprocal process, of both reflection and refraction, Gregory’s poetry inspires the imagery of these observational studies, while the drawings give form to his words. This project seeks to render the invisible visible, giving shape to the poetic imagination and amplifying Gregory’s voice within the larger community.
