Learn to create amazing buildings, vehicles, space ships, and more with Legos. make a different project each week. Class is designed for beginners and intermediate builders. Legos provided.

Ready for more than PB&J? Chef Jim LaPerriere teaches cooking basics including shopping (at the Greenmarket), following recipes, food prep, and creating your own culinary masterpieces. From salsa to chocolate cake, you can make it! Jim LaPerriere is an executive chef with extensive culinary experience and a passion for fresh, healthy food and teaching young people.

Dive into our "green world" during this week of
art, music, sculpture, and exploration. Learn how to live "green" and make a diference

Create a truly green sculpture using clean garbage. The artful creations will be displayed under the SCA's Bertha Krueger Reid Pavilion in a mini "green" exhibition.

 

RAIN GARDEN SECRETS

Learn about the SCA's innovative Rain Garden under the red arches and how it removes pollutants from rainwater runoff. Make your own "enviroscape" to see how rain gardens do their work. Take home a "seed cup" for your own garden.

THEATRE CAMP

Dreaming of becoming a star?



Or if you just want to have fun,...theatre camp is an adventure in creativity. You will learn basic skills involved with character exploration, improvisation, musical theatre, and storytelling, then use creative dramatic techniques to explore plot and setting.  Instructor Wendy Baker will help students create and perform short scenes during the week and make costumes in preparation for a performance for parents and friends on Friday.

During the week you will also connect with the professionals at Mason Street Warehouse (equity theatre company housed at the SCA) for a “behind the scenes” look at their production of the smash musical “Evita."

Wendy Baker has a passion for children’s theatre, performance, and storytelling and brings a decade of children's theatre experience from Davenport Jr. Theatre.  She is currently the School Media Specialist at Hamilton Community Schools.  Laurie Dekker is the Elementary Music Specialist for the Hamilton Community Schools.

 

 


MISSION TO MARS:
LEGO ROBOTICS CAMP

Will your Lego robot make it to Mars?



During Mission to Mars, you will study and build Lego robots that will experience challenges like those encountered by scientists and space engineers.  The final day of camp features a competition parents can watch! Take your Lego building to the next level with this interactive, hands-on camp.



Brad Raffenaud has been creating with Legos for 30 years. He has instructed numerous Lego workshops and camps for people of all ages across West Michigan.
