Award-winning singer-songwriter Meg Hutchinson showcases her talent at the SCA’s 2010 Summer in the Studio series.

Drew Nelson shares his soulful strumming and deeply honest lyrics as part of the SCA’s summer in the Studio series.

With lyrics that bristle with sincerity, spirituality, and a keen insight about real life and real people, legendary songwriter John Gorka has said of Nelson’s abilities, “Drew’s songs sound like the rest of us feel.  His characters are anything but defeated.  They are dazed, angry, amazed, and climbing.”

A Michigan native, Nelson escaped the narrow confines of his small-town, Midwestern upbringing by joining the Navy and traveling the world.  His experiences abroad brought him home with fresh eyes to appreciate the realities of life in America and provided insight and understanding that have found an outlet in music filled with discovery, revelation, and hope.

Nelson’s newest album, “Dusty Road to Beulah Land,” was released in 2009.  Each song on this album brings another side of Nelson to the forefront, expanding beyond his folk-singer roots to embrace wider genres.

Eventually, she moved to Ontario to pursue music professionally.  Chamberland launched her professional career as part of an acoustic folk-rock duo, performing at venues and festivals throughout North America and sharing the stage with notables including Sarah McLachlan and the Barenaked Ladies. She then took a brief sabbatical during and began exploring new areas of music and experimenting in a genre that had always been close to her heart – Jazz. Since then, Chamberland has never looked back.

Says music writer Jerry D’Souza, “Chantal has a warm, toasty voice that can light up a dark room and send a glow through her audience.”  Her vocal delivery is so alluring that Canadian music critic, Nick Krewen, describes her singing as "making love to her songs".
